An 81-year-old man who posed as a doctor so he could con his way into women's homes and perform fake breast examinations has struck a plea deal with prosecutors, narrowly escaping spending the rest of his lief in prison.
Phillip Winikoff, from Coconut Creek, Florida, was accused of carrying out the pretence with a black doctor's bag in April 2006 at an apartment complex in Fort Lauderdale.
Two women are said to have fallen for his ruse and allowed him into their apartment.
The first victim, a 36-year-old, said once Winikoff was inside her apartment, he 'touched her breast'. She realised something was wrong when he moved his hand down into her pants and fondled her.
By the time the victim called 911, Winikoff had already found a second victim, the sheriff's office said.
Winikoff was charged with three counts of sexual battery, two counts of practising medicine without a license, two counts of simple battery, and one count of using the title of doctor without a license.

If tried and convicted, he could have been sentenced to more than 45 years in prison for the sexual battery charges and given another ten years for practising medicine without a license.

The specifics of the deal have not been disclosed, according to the Sun Sentinel, and it was not revealed whether or not it will keep him out of prison.
The alleged con happened around the same time an organisation called the Women's Breast Health Initiative started going door-to-door offering information on breast cancer and free mammograms.
Founder and executive director Andrea Ivory told the Sun Sentinel: 'Under no circumstances do any of our volunteers enter anyone's home, ever. We conduct outreach in groups of two or three. No one comes to your door alone and they are always female."
