A 29-year-old man, who was arrested for molesting an 11-year-old girl, later told police he frequently had sex with his dog.
Matthew Curtner, from Salisbury, near Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested after social workers started looking into allegations that the child was being sexually abused.
When they went to Curtner's home, he admitted to sheriffs that he had been molesting the girl for months and said he 'wanted to be honest about his problems'.
He then told them about the frequent sex he had been having with a female pit bull-Chow Chow mix and went on to describe other sexual offenses he had engaged in over the last 20 years.
They are now being investigated while Curtner is being held on $1million bond.
He was charged with three counts of first-degree sex offense of a child, crime against nature and cruelty to an animal by torture.
More charges were pending, the sheriff’s office told the Charlotte Observer.
The 29-year-old has a long record which include common law robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and breaking and entering. No sex-related convictions were found.
Authorities said the children in the home would be examined by a physician.
